Eternit NV is the preferred partner of all professional and private decision makers in the construction market. For them, Eternit develops, produces and sells solutions to help realise roofs, facades and walls in residential and non-residential, new and renovation
market. With its extensive range of products be it small or large roofing materials, cladding or building boards, Eternit is a professional and solid partner for building projects of all kinds.
Eternit has delivered its latest range of fibre cement sheets to cover the E-Cube with. Fibre cement is one of the most versatile products within the wide range of products Eternit has to offer. It is a high quality and durable composite material produced from natural raw materials: cement, mineral fillers (sand), organic fibres, water and air. Fibre cement is a product in constant growth, not only due to its durability, but also because of its technical and aesthetic properties. The construction sector, which is well aware that it will have to reduce its ecological footprint in the future, understands the importance of using sustainable products like fibre cement.
What makes fibre cement so interesting? Mainly its recyclability and low CO2 impact. Fibre cement is made of 95% mineral materials that are abundant in nature and are extracted locally. The cement comes from local limestone quarries and the wood from sustainable forestry. The production is simple and natural, and all production waste is recycled. All the ingredients make fibre cement resistant to fire, fungi, insects, moisture and harsh environments.
Fibre cement products are highly efficient and have a minimal impact on the environment. They provide an unparalleled construction and environmental friendly alternative to existing products and have unequalled aesthetical properties.
Patrick Balemans, Managing Director of Eternit, said “the project has captured our attention from the beginning and since then it has been a wonderful architectural journey. E-Cube represents what Belgium does best regarding building materials. We are very proud to have been able to cover the E-Cube with our finest sustainable fibre cement sheets, Eter-Color, giving it a shell that is resistant to all elements and responds to the required: natural, honest, aesthetic. The wall construction is based on the lightweight ventilated and insulated concept reinforcing the global sustainability of the building. We wish Team Belgium: Ghent University all the best and are confident they will be successful in representing Belgium in the USA”.
